Rodgers outlines Celtic's European aspirations for next season

30 May 2017, 05:30 | Susie Olson

Substitute Tom Rogic's sensational injury-time victor gave Celtic a 2-1 Scottish Cup final success over Aberdeen and clinched a historic treble for the Glasgow club.

However, Hampden Park has not always been a happy hunting ground for the midfielder, with the Australia worldwide missing a Scottish Cup semi-final penalty during Celtic's defeat to Glasgow Rangers past year.

But they could only hold on for two minutes after Jonny Hayes volleyed home from a ninth-minute corner, with Stuart Armstrong only needing a few yards of space to fire home from 20 yards.

Lewis' efforts ultimately proved fruitless, though as, in the 92nd minute, Rogic - at the end of a superb run - produced a fine finish to send the Hoops' faithful into raptures and deliver Celtic's first domestic treble since 2001. That's how we've won games this season, by playing our football and they were playing a man-marking game. "The cup final, there's a lot of nerves in it".

"No, what we can do is create an environment that is fantastic for them to be in".

"We've worked hard for each other and that's the rewards we get". "I'll think about it after, if it happens".

"To go undefeated throughout the season is something special".

Asked directly about the link to Sunderland, McInnes said: "I'm only thinking about winning this game tomorrow". We weren't fluid, and maybe a bit nervous. Then it was about recovery and about making sure through the week that we come in here at our very best.

"It's the best feeling and it's going to last a long, long time". We had a choice in the game, do we put on a full-back for young Kieran or stay offensive and attacking, and it paid off for us. It was an amazingly proud moment for me.

Paatelainen expects both team's key players to rise to the occasion like Larsson this afternoon but he believes the significance of the match could also pile pressure on Rodgers' outfit.

Gordon, who signed a new deal with Celtic in March, which will keep him at the club until 2020, made 55 appearances in all competitions during the 2016/17 campaign, conceding just 38 goals and managing 28 clean sheets.
