This week, the point was driven home when stars turned out to the Cannes Film Festival in France with new, stunning lobs all over the red carpet.
Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone's second red carpet appearance at the Cannes Film Festival was far from flawless. Instead, on this year's red carpet, the Chinese actress is introducing her alter ego, the Cannes judge who wears subdued colours.
But while the 20-year-old was dressed to impress, she revealed more than she intended when she went to greet Susan Sarandon on the red carpet. As she shared on Instagram on Tuesday ahead of attending Cannes again, the accidental flashing and red gown was one of her "favorite moments".
Deepika is the first Indian celebrity to walk the Cannes red carpet this year. For the presentation of the unknown girl Dardenne Brothers, supermodel chose a long red dress low-cut and very split.
Stars likely to make an impression include Nicole Kidman, who has four projects at the festival, Kristen Stewart, who makes her directorial debut with her short film Come Swim, and Jessica Chastain, who is a member of the jury. The GRAMMY victor also sported some tiny, futuristic black and white shades on the carpet.
Hollywood stars including Nicole Kidman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Pattinson are heading for the French Riviera as the 70th Cannes Film Festival gets under way.
Hadid's gown earned the record of the dress with the highest leg slit of the night, although everyone agreed that it did not quite beat the record she set past year in her sensational bright red dress that featured a bold slit that ran up to her hips, displaying long slim legs and more.
You have to admire her body confidence - earlier this month, she wore a black sheer body stocking to the Met Gala, a piece of clothing so tight, designer Alexander Wang had to sew her in it. Her day started with sunny Solace London outfit.
