Hawaii Defies Donald Trump, Signs Bills To Stay In Paris Climate Accord

10 June 2017, 07:06 | Cedric Leonard

Technically, President Trump cannot just walk away because the Climate Change Agreement states that no country can withdraw within three years of it coming into force, and the process of withdrawal takes a further year to complete. We think that the President's decision to withdraw the USA from the Paris agreement is profoundly unwise and shortsighted.

The Paleontological Research Institution expresses its strongest possible disagreement with President Trump's recent announcement that the United States will withdraw from participation in the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.

As outlined in its climate change strategy, Bournemouth has a target to reduce Carbon dioxide emissions by 30 per cent by 2020, helping the United Kingdom hit its target of 34 per cent Carbon dioxide reduction by that year.

"Global warming is one of the gravest challenges the humankind is facing today and the Paris Agreement that called for nationally determined contribution to the reduction of (greenhouse gas) emission is the outcome of decades long efforts to mitigate it", said the statement.

"So there might still be hope", he said.

"Our island communities lead the way when it comes to climate change impacts and policy", Ige said in a Facebook Live video of the signing.

An overwhelming majority of scientists say human activity - including the burning of oil, gas and coal - is the main driver of rising global temperatures. Our share is only about 0.30 percent of the world's total, quite insignificant yet we are a signatory to the Paris Agreement on climate change. Trump has said that climate change is a hoax created by the Chinese and that he feels the world "is laughing at us".

Many U.S. states, cities and businesses say they will forge ahead with the U.S. commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement, even though President Donald Trump pulled out of the deal. "When climate change is threatening our reefs and threatening our weather. then it's threatening our economy, too". After previously arguing that climate change was a Chinese "hoax", Mr. Trump stood in the White House's Rose Garden claiming that the deal disadvantaged USA and American workers. By bringing this in a legally coherent form, Hawaii becomes the first state to officially pledge its support of the Paris accord. Taking a step back while momentum is building would hurt our country, reducing our credibility with other world leaders and compromising our ability to participate in the booming global clean energy economy.

Trump is a known Earth Hater, Climate Change Denier and Very Naughty Boy.

"Mr. Trump has made a wrong decision", said Shi Dinghuan, former secretary-general of China's Ministry of Science and Technology, who was also at the Paris talks.
