Google gets in on the job-search game

On its Webmaster Central Blog, Google posted instructions for how to get job postings included in the new Google Search feature. The job search feature is only gathering job listings posted on other sites and placing them in one, convenient place. "The impact of Google for Jobs can not be overstated and iCIMS' focus on recruiting allows us to be nimble in embracing this technology where other organizations simply can not".

Google for Jobs was announced at I/O this year, and despite having a not-so-great-name, the idea behind it is really cool.

Starting today in English on desktop and mobile, users can search for "jobs near me", "teaching jobs", or similar job-seeking queries, and receive in-depth results on jobs from across the web. The biggest factor is the fact that Google will index postings not only from job boards but also any corporate websites which implement the new formatting standard released in conjunction with the search feature.

The blog post by Google is USA-centric, and the search doesn't now bring up anything special in NZ, but it should only be a matter of time before we see the feature roll out everywhere.

Job seekers and employers both face an issue with today's job market. The information will come from the websites of job search specialists like Glassdoor and LinkedIn, and directly from the career sections of many other company websites. The search result will also provide the ratings of the company.

Better yet, you can make that search, then set up alerts for any new jobs posted that fit into those parameters.

Once a person has selected a job, Google will redirect the user to the actual site where the user can apply for the job.

We want to hear from you.

If you're hunting for a new job, Google just debuted a new AI tool that could aid your search.

Nick Zakrasek, the Google staffer who led the development of the project, told TechCrunch that vacancies published to multiple sites are filtered to improve the user experience.

Google launched its new search job search engine that showcases job opportunities listed on major job board sites in one place.
