Detroit has the best drivers in America, study says

Salt Lake City drivers crash into nation's second-worst ranking

The study, conducted by the insurance agency QuoteWizard, analyzed accidents, speeding tickets and arrests to assess driver behaviors and risks on the roads. It's followed by Salt Lake City; Riverside, California; Richmond, Virginia; and San Diego.

In Allstate America's Best Drivers Report, the insurance firm issued its annual ranking that identifies which of the 200 largest USA cities and their surrounding suburban metropolitan areas have the safest drivers based on based on collision frequency. We sampled incident stats from users of our website with over two million data points from 2016. Among those, Columbus ranked the highest, at number 7 among worst drivers.

On the contrary, Detroit earned the distinction of being America's safest driving city for having the lowest accident rate of the US metro areas and the second-lowest amount of traffic citations, according to QuoteWizard's data. But surprisingly, our study firmly places Detroit in the top spot as America's best driving city. Congratulations, people of Detroit.

Do you think that driving in Sacramento has gotten progressively worse? "Of course, you may need to take out a second mortgage to afford vehicle insurance, but that's a whole other story".

Cincinnati ranked 32nd on the list of worst drivers. Yes, America's largest tree canopy lines Sacramento's streets, but the streets themselves are filled with risky drivers.
