How the iPhone has changed our lives in 10 years

Apple Inc. iPhone

Since then there have been 15 different iterations of the handset, ranging from the 1st generation unveiled by Jobs to the most recent 7 Plus launched in September past year. He adds that in the next 10 years, iPhone will still be on the market but with much reduced market share due to competition from Apple Glasses.

It wasn't the first "smartphone", or the first phone with a camera. Apple must get the phone engineering part of the equation right, and it is hard to see how they will accomplish that with no track record in the industry. It also introduces the world the concept of an App Store, a single store for downloading apps on the smartphones with a single touch. This is another rumored feature of the iPhone 8 that has been linked to a bezel-less device. From apps to games, it populated their digital shopfront.

With developers still dreaming up new apps and experiences to work alongside expanded capabilities on the iPhone, the app economy, which was worth $1.3 trillion a year ago, is showing no signs of slowing down.

"One of the improvements that we're expecting in technology is this ability to get vital health information that can be monitored all the time", he said, "and the iPhone will be able to provide that". Apple claimed the phone was twice as fast as the iPhone 3G, with the S standing for speed.

The original iPhone turned heads when it was launched, with a 3.5-inch display and no physical keyboard. Many considered the phone's introduction as pointless, as it was not an advancement of iphone 6 and 6S's features but instead, the phone went back to the design of 5S. With a stainless steel and glass body, the device got a dapper squarer look with chamfered rounded corners.

June 29th 2007 was a big day, because that was the day Apple released a little-known device called the iPhone onto the world.

Also on the back, there's a vertically aligned dual rear-camera array.

August 24, 2011: Steve Jobs resigns as the CEO of Apple. It changed from a 30-pin charging port to the current Lightning port.

Thursday will mark a decade since the first generation iPhone launched in the U.S. Across generations, Apple has managed to sell over 1 billion iPhones up until today when it is still innovating both hardware and software in time for its 10th anniversary. Before the iPhone, "they were all about iPods. They phased the out because now, 'everyone has an iPhone'".

Apple is expected to debut an "iPhone 8" with 5.8-inch edge-to-edge OLED panel, front-facing cameras with 3D facial recognition and more at a special event this fall.

Doubtless there will be a ton of interesting stories out today about the iPhone, but it's interesting to take a look at their performance on eBay for some stats on how much the nation still loves them.
