Netflix's 'Narcos' Location Scout Shot & Killed On the Job in Mexcio

Carlos Muñoz Portal, a veteran location manager working on Netflix's Narcos, was found dead in Mexico while scouting for season 4.

The BBC report that his body was discovered on Monday (September 11), although details are only emerging now.

The experienced location scout had worked on several high profile films including Mel Gibson's Apocalypto, Fast & Furious and the James Bond film Spectre.

It's a sad day for all those involved with Netflix's hit series Narcos, as one of the production's location scouts was reportedly shot and killed during a recent trip to Mexico.

The El Pais story continued: "The facts that led to the death of Muñoz Portal are not clear". It is not known why, but Carlos' body was found hours later in the compact vehicle with several shots.

Narcos, which has dealt with Columbian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar, was going to set season 4 in Mexico and feature the Juarez cartel. In July, 182 cases of homicide were reported in the densely populated state, a ratio of 12.2 for every 100,000 inhabitants.

There are no specifics yet on what happened, but he was last seen heading out to the State of Mexico for some production photographs.

"We are aware of the passing of Carlos Munoz, a well-respected scout, and send our condolences to his family", said the company in a brief message on the matter.

"The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate".
