Record Signing Lacazette not yet ready for 90 minutes, Says Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a well-known advocate of the English winger and after failing to land Monaco's Thomas Lemar in the summer, he could be joining him in January, as per John Cross.

Gilberto Silva is the only South American to reach a century of Premier League starts for Arsenal. The defence does not give up many easy goals but the problem tends to happen when they face pacy attackers as their back four are not the quickest team in the league.

Wenger noted that Germany's chancellor, Angela Merkel, had recently urged Uefa and Federation Internationale de Football Association to introduce new rules to control the spending on transfer fees.

In an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live, he said, "I was really disappointed to see he was taken off".

"It is for the first time that yesterday politically the German prime minister came out and the president of Uefa came out".

The forward missed the first two games of the season with an abdominal injury and was only a substitute in the league matches against Bournemouth and Chelsea after starting in the 4-0 loss at Liverpool.

The game at Stamford Bridge last weekend certainly felt like it could be the catalyst for a change in our fortunes, as no one gave us much of a sniff against the in form and reigning champions. "But you can not be in between - that is where we are at the moment", Wenger stressed. "At the moment, we are a bit in between and that does not work".

Wenger insisted his intention is to get last season's 30-goal top scorer back up to speed as quickly as possible.

Mesut Ozil is in contention to return to the Arsenal team for Monday's Premier League clash with West Brom.

Asked if his disciplinary problems are more to do with the position he plays, he added: "Yes, that'll be it".

"But with the level of transfer fees, and amounts of money players want, more and more will go into the final year of contracts".
