Can Sri Lanka defend 119?
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had agreed a deal in principal with Cricket Sri Lanka (SLC) to stage the final T20I in Lahore as opposed to the UAE where the two sides are now battling it out in the Test series.
Off-spinner Dilruwan Perera took three wickets to push Sri Lanka closer to an impressive win on the fourth day of the second and final day-night Test in Dubai on Monday. Pakistan responded with 262, enabling Sri Lanka to enforce the follow-on.
"No, not at all".
"It was a tough series for us".
Speaking after the game, the Sri Lanka skipper said: "We are over the moon". But this morning, we had more than 120 runs to defend, so we all knew that in this session the ball will grip, as we have two experienced spinners in Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera.
With the new ball due early on Day 5, Sri Lanka will fancy a wicket or two to get through to the Pakistan tail.
Perera went on a golden duck, lbw against Yasir Shah. We expected the fast bowlers to pick up wickets but they didn't, said Sarfraz. "Our batting was a disappointment as no one was able to play for long and that cost us". They made 400, we still made 400 against them.
ODI Squad: Ahmed Shehzad, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed (C)(Wk), Imad Wasim, Shahdab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Mohammed Amir, Ruman Raees, Junaid Khan, Haris Sohail and Imam-ul-Haq. "Hopefully things will get better in another two years' time", he added. They hit the right areas and took wickets at just the right time. "I think more than the bowling, the difference was our batting". Why would Pakistan want to change the method that has treated them so well on these grounds in the past 10 years?
Dinesh Chandimal officially stepped into the captaincy about 48 hours before the beginning of a Test, and his team very almost lost it, against Zimbabwe.
"I got to learn a lot". "We made many mistakes in the series but this was my first series as captain and it was pretty tough and will allow us to learn". His century in the first innings of this series set the shock win in motion. Captaincy is very different in Tests - changes session by session. They had won five of the previous nine, with four drawn. "In the first innings got 50s but got out back to back", explained Sarfraz.
The first game of the series treated us with a crackerjack of game.
