Teenagers charged after rock kills van passenger in MI

Teens denied bond in rock toss that killed I-75 driver

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton Monday charged five teens with second-degree murder for the death of a motorist killed October 18 by a piece of concrete dropped off an Interstate 75 overpass.

If convicted, they each could face life in prison.

White was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

In addition to the second-degree murder charges, the teens are being charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and malicious destruction of property, according to WDIV Local 4.

"There's no words to describe it", Kenneth White Sr, White's father, told CNN affiliate WNEM.

Investigators are asking for the public's help tracking down the people who threw the rocks.

The teenager who prosecutors believe actually dropped the rock is 17-year-old Kyle Anger.

Police say they threw several large rocks off the Dodge Street overpass onto southbound I-75 on Wednesday evening. They are all being charged as adults in Genesee County. 17-year-old Anger is the oldest in the group.

"To propel the size of boulder down from the Dodge Road overpass to a 70 miles per hour vehicle that's headed southbound, you ought to know - a reasonable person would know - that that is creating a high risk of great bodily harm, or in this case, death", said David Leyton, the county prosecutor, at a news conference on Monday. "I've buried my mother, my father, and my oldest brother in the last four years and this is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life".

She said the "stupid act" took away the father of their 5-year-old son and the "love of my life". They were heading south on the I-75, a major highway, when the driver said he saw a large stone coming towards his van. "I don't think anybody is laughing and I think that if there's any warning that both David and I can give, is telling young people, you make a bad decision, you could be spending the rest of your life in prison". They still get phone calls from their parents. As previously reported by CrimeOnline, the five teens will be tried as adults in a MI court of law. As in, they wanted to hear the rocks (one of which was 20 pounds) ding on the cars.
