Android 8.0 Oreo beta for Samsung Galaxy S8 rolling out now

Android 8.0 Oreo beta for Samsung Galaxy S8 rolling out now

Samsung Exynos 7885

The beta also introduces Oreo-only features that are mostly unchanged by Samsung. Besides, Samsung's homeland South Korea is also among the favourable regions to get the update in the first wave of the rollout.

Even if your device is on the list, due to the nature of the program, you should only apply if you really feel comfortable using beta software. Just tap on it and you'll be enrolled in Samsung Galaxy beta program.

As usual, be mindful when toying with beta updates - if you're not adventurous, better wait for the official software to arrive for you. Samsung will stop the beta when a few thousand people install it on their phone.

Samsung describes the update as the Samsung Experience 9.0 that is "based on the Android OS", which is a amusing way of referring to your Android skin, but I'll just leave it at that. The update is bringing detailed control of notifications, new app icon badges, notification dots, and long press for context menus.

As with all Samsung Experience beta programs, only some users will be able to access the Oreo-based update - you must have a Samsung account and apply via the Samsung Plus app in the USA, or Samsung Members app elsewhere. If you depend on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ to get through the day, you probably want to stay put on Android Nougat. The devices are also guaranteed to receive monthly security updates for up to three years.

Samsung, in the changelog, says it has made changes in the Quick Panel, Home Screen gestures, Samsung Keyboard, System Performance, Edge Screen, Samsung Cloud, Dual Messenger and more.

Most of the other things are same.
