Kevin Spacey dropped from film after fresh sexual allegations

Kevin Spacey accused of groping son of former TV news anchor

Kevin Spacey Christopher Plummer

On Wednesday, Deadline reported that director Ridley Scott, in concert with Imperative Entertainment's Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas, opted to remove Kevin Spacey from Scott's forthcoming movie All The Money In The World, which is completely finished, and will give his role to Christopher Plummer.

The news follows a wave of sexual assault allegations made against Spacey by over a dozen people, including multiple accusations of assault on underage victims.

According to Deadline, director Ridley Scott and Imperative Entertainment producers have now chose to replace Kevin Spacey in their finished movie All The Money In The World.

The trailer for "All The Money in the World", which tells the story of the kidnapping of Getty's 16-year-old grandson in Italy in 1973, shows Spacey as the fearsome patriarch who infamously refused to pay a ransom to secure the boy's release.

All the Money in the World features an ensemble cast including Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg. The release is expected to go ahead as planned on 22 December.

But rather than push the film to 2018, Deadline reports that Sony is cutting Spacey out of the movie, reshooting his scenes with Oscar victor Christopher Plummer, and keeping the film's December release date.

The film is expected to open on December 22.

Spacey's former publicist said last week that the actor was "taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment".

The controversy surround Spacey began in late October, as Anthony Rapp, an original cast member of Broadway's "Rent", accused the actor of harassing him when he was 14 years old.

The report came just hours after a former TV news anchor alleged that Spacey sexually assaulted her teenage son past year, at a restaurant in Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Vox has reached out to Spacey's representatives for comment.

After the allegations were levelled against Kevin Spacey, Netflix also cut ties with the actor.
