Some flights cancelled from United Kingdom to Ireland due to snow

The newspaper estimated that there are 27,000 BA passengers stranded in London, 20,000 on the continent, and another 3,000 at other British airports, making it likely that it would take several days to get the schedule back on track.

A number of flights across the United Kingdom have been cancelled today as a result of the heavy snow felt across much of the United Kingdom this weekend. Passengers on Ryanair were worst affected, but at least 10 easyJet flights were also cancelled. Reuters reported that the regional airport of Eindhoven was shut completely on Monday, canceling all flights.

Heathrow is advising passengers that "disruption continues today following yesterday's weather" and that passenger's must check the status of their flight before departing for the airport.

In a statement today, British Airways said: " Heathrow is continuing to experience severe adverse weather conditions.

Six morning flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh have been cancelled to Heathrow while a number of others flights were also delayed.

"We're very sorry that some of our customers" travel plans have been affected by heavy snowfall being experienced across the United Kingdom and Europe, ' a British Airways spokesman said.


Mr Robertson told the 's: "We have no issues - all of the cancellations are down to issues elsewhere. As soon as it's safe we'll start operations again".

A spokeswoman for Heathrow Airport said: "Heathrow airport remains open however we regret that weather across the United Kingdom is resulting in some passengers experiencing disruption to their travel arrangements".

Flights to Aberdeen have also faced significant delays as a result of the weather.

With a logjam at Heathrow, incoming flights were diverted, with planes from Paris, Iceland, Finland and Athens being sent to Newcastle, while passengers from Zurich, Zagreb, Vienna, Gibraltar, Nice and Madrid went to Cardiff.

"The safety and comfort of our passengers is always our first priority and we are working closely with our airlines to ensure affected passengers are looked after".
