Donald Trump to visit United Kingdom later this year

Donald Trump meets with Theresa May in New York

"America is open for business", United States President Donald Trump said during his first address to the World Economic Forum on Friday.

"I would do TPP if we were able to make a substantially better deal", Trump told CNBC in an interview while attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

"I believe in America", Trump said.

"I think the feeling is mutual from the standpoint that we like each other a lot", he added, saying he wanted to correct a "false rumor" about them, as May nodded.

"We're standing shoulder to shoulder because we're facing challenges across the world and as you say we're working together to defeat those challenges", she said.

The subjects that will be discussed at the meetings are Iran's expansion of power in the middle east, the problems caused by North Korea and the continued fight to neutralize Islamic State Militants.

The UK Prime Minister has asked her officials to finalise the details of Trump's visit to the UK as soon as possible.

British officials have been dismayed by some of Trump's pronouncements, particularly a proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States and most recently when Trump rebuked May on Twitter after she criticised him for retweeting British far-right anti-Islam videos.

"And alongside that working for a good trade relationship in the future which will be to both our benefits so the U.S. and the United Kingdom both do well out of this and it's been great to see you today".

Donald Trump's on-off visit to Britain is back in the diary as he mended fences with Theresa May following their acrimonious public fall-out a year ago.

Responding to a question about his state visit to the U.K., Trump said: "We will talk about that".

However, Trump warned that the world "cannot have free and open trade if some countries exploit the system". Earlier this month, Trump said on Twitter that he "canceled" a visit to London to formally open the new USA embassy because the old site had been sold for "peanuts" and he didn't like the choice of the new location.

Trump and May have had a rocky first year since Trump took power, which included British anger over the USA leak of the name of a suicide bomber in Manchester last May.

I don't care. It's just one of those things, I don't say anything.
