White House teases 'immigration framework' will be unveiled next week

Walker, Budd back bill to end shutdown

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders struggled Wednesday to point to specific steps President Donald Trump has taken to address mass shootings, pointing instead to the administration's broad efforts to crack down on violent crime.

Jeff Flake of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of SC, and Democrat Dick Durbin of IL, was criticized by White House press secretary Sarah. "And the President wants to lead on this issue, and that's exactly what we're going to do", Sanders said Wednesday.

The plan will propose border security measures, closing loopholes, ending so-called chain migration, canceling the visa lottery program and legalizing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program, she added.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) speaks with reporters ahead of the party luncheons on Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S. January 23, 2018.

The White House will release the legislative framework on Monday.

Trump has also insisted on funding for his long-promised wall along the U.S.

"I will take all the heat you want to give me", the President said.

These reforms were assembled in coordination with frontline law enforcement officers and career public servants who know what is necessary to keep America safe, Sanders said.

"Students fearing for their lives while they're attempting to get an education is unacceptable", Sanders said.

Trump has said repeatedly that any deal to protect those immigrants from deportation is contingent on money for the border wall and other security measures.

Schumer was referring to an offer he made Trump last week to authorize upward of $20 billion for a border wall, a signature campaign pledge for the President, in exchange for protecting recipients of DACA, young undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children.

But Trump was pleased with the work of his staff defending him on air and was warned by allies, including chief of staff John Kelly, budget director Mick Mulvaney and House Speaker Paul Ryan, not to reopen negotiations with Schumer, whom White House staffers believed would have to fold. The goal is to produce consensus legislation that would be the starting point for Senate debate on immigration, which is expected to begin February 8, said Sens.

Schumer said Tuesday that he'd pulled back an offer of $25 billion for Trump's border wall.

Bennett doctor also said that "We did do a cognitive exam at the President's request and he passed it with flying colors".

"I think he has, Peter", she said.

Democrats are still grappling with how to handle losing the government shut down battle over the weekend while they continue discussions with Republicans on a DACA compromise.

The plan would eliminate the visa lottery, but used those passes to create a new amnesty for Haitians, Salvadorans and other would-be illegal immigrants who've been in the USA under special protections because of natural disasters back home.
