Arsene Wenger insists Olivier Giroud has not been offered to Borussia Dortmund as part of a deal for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and says Arsenal are still "far from being close" to signing the Gabon forward.

Stoger has recently praised Aubameyang, who was named Bundesliga top scorer last season, for his professionalism. "It's still possible but we are far from being close".

Dortmund star Aubameyang already has expressed his will to join Arsenal and also was excluded from the squad for disciplinary reasons.

They aren't the first club to attempt signing the player, with Chelsea and Real Madrid being turned down by Dortmund in past seasons.

The 28-year-old Aubameyang was dropped for Dortmund's last two league games after failing to attend a team meeting.

"I can not tell you more, nothing to announce today", said Wenger.

"At the moment, we have done - we are not close to any deal with Aubameyang or anybody else".

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has earmarked the player as his preferred replacement for Alexis Sanchez who has joined Manchester United.

With a deal for Roma's Edin Dzeko looking increasingly unlikely, the Blues are watching on with interest as their London rivals try to sign Aubameyang during continued talks with Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund have been angered by Arsenal's sluggish bartering and low bids, according to German source Kicker (h/t Martin Domin of the Daily Mirror).

Nicholas has urged his former club to get the deal done and believes the Gabon worldwide could form a formidable frontline with Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Aaaaaanyway, it was originally thought that Arsenal might include Olivier Giroud in a deal for Auba, but this bid was straight-up cash.

"I know him very well, he's a good friend of mine", he told Eurosport, as quoted by the Mirror.
