Widespread flu keeping local health departments, pharmacies on alert

Department Director Nate Smith says the majority of flu-related deaths are reported after the peak of transmission, which hadn't arrived as of Monday. "We're continuing to urge Marylanders to get their flu shots, stay home from work if they are sick, and practice other preventative measures to stop the spread of flu".

The influenza outbreak continues to worsen in our state.

That brings the season-to-date total cases to 66,373 laboratory-positive influenza cases in Missouri.

The first adult flu death of the season was last month in Frederick.

No further details were released by The Maryland Health Department about the death.

Due to an extra supply of flu vaccines, the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District is offering free flu vaccinations.
