Trump Inspects Proposed Models for Border Wall

President Trump is coming to California

Welcome to California President Trump! Now skip the wall and let us educate you

The trip Tuesday, which has brought him the Otay Mesa area of San Diego, includes a tour of the eight options that his administration has selected for testing - and that might serve as his long-promised wall along the border of the USA and Mexico, if Congress decides to allot the funds to do so. And we said, 'No, we won't do it until we build the whole wall.' But there are certain areas, as you know, where they are really wanting us to build a wall.

The border wall prototypes were built by six companies chosen to create eight versions of what the finished product may look like.

After leaving the border, Trump basked in the cheers of U.S. Marines in Miramar, pointing to his work to build up the nation's military. "These are like professional mountain climbers".

All the various characteristics of the potential border walls and fences, including combinations of them, could be used as new barriers are built, as each choice will be selected based on the needs of the environment where it's being put. "Some of them they can", he added. U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel, whom Trump attacked during his 2016 campaign, said in an initial ruling last month that the administration had legal authority to proceed with the project.

As the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want" rolled over the speakers, Trump thanked troops and made his way back to Air Force One for a Los Angeles fundraiser. Four are made of concrete, while the others are made of alternate materials.

But Trump seemed optimistic that a change in leadership following the Mexican election in July could lead to a more favorable set of circumstances. But, he said, "I have to do it".

President Donald Trump has arrived in San Diego, where he'll be touring the prototypes for his stalled border wall. "The criminals take refuge in these sanctuary cities and it's very unsafe for our police and enforcement folks".

The president also renewed his criticism of sanctuary jurisdictions - including those in California - saying they should be stripped of federal grant funding. Sessions said the laws, which restrict how local law enforcement can cooperate with federal immigration officials, are unconstitutional and undermine national security.

Trump went to the border site Tuesday, just after landing in San Diego.

"And people are gonna start to move pretty soon", he said. "I love this country".

The mayor, a business-friendly Republican and ardent supporter of the North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta), said a popular cross-border airport terminal connecting San Diego and Tijuana shows that "building bridges has worked wonders".

"But bridges are still better than walls", Brown said. "But here in San Diego, we view it much differently".

Jeff Schwilk, founder of San Diegans for Secure Borders, whose group participated in a rally in December near the prototypes that ended in clashes with counter-protesters, said the council's resolution does not reflect the views of many residents who feel the border is not secure. The protest's Facebook page now lists the start time as 5 PM, though the president's plans remain so unpublicized that the rally's start time has been modified on the page throughout the day.

In Trump fashion, he posted the video on Twitter, about two hours after leaving the site of the prototypes, and even before he was scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles for his next event on Tuesday, a fundraiser in Beverly Hills. He was also to meet with border agents and officers to ask what they need, Homeland Security spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said.

The president will not be swayed by California Republican lawmakers concerned the wall is a waste of money, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Monday. "It's something that he's going to continue to push for".

"We have a lousy wall over here now, but at least it stops 90, 95 per cent", Trump said.
