Tottenham and Swansea will go head to head for a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup

Paul Merson is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to book their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup by beating Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Nevertheless, it is worth dwelling on Mauricio Pochettino's claims that winning the FA Cup does not prove anything.

After a tame opening to the quarter-final, Eriksen brought the tie to life with a stunning effort to open the scoring.

First-half strikes from Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela put the visitors firmly in the driving seat at the break, before Eriksen struck again in the second-half as Swansea found themselves with limited opportunities in front of their home support.

Tottenham, chasing their first silverware under Pochettino, are back in the Wembley semi-finals after losing to Chelsea at that stage of the competition last season. Dele Alli and Danny Rose will face late fitness tests.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Gunners legend Merson said: "I don't see how Swansea win this game - their priority is staying in the Premier League".

What is important is that everyone is available to play and the team is not affected by the names.

'We were in a good position, nearly a ideal position, to go through.

"It was a very good performance".

"We full deserved the victory".

The contest might have changed if former Swansea goalkeeper Vorm had not brilliantly kept out Martin Olsson's firm drive and Abraham's point-blank follow-up within seconds of the restart.

Despite missing top scorer Harry Kane, the Lillywhites were a constant threat and it wasn't long before Christian Eriksen gave Poch's side an early lead in the 11th minute.

Tottenham might even have had the game sewn up by half-time, but Son Heung-min's effort was ruled out for offside after consultation with the video assistant referee (VAR).

Eriksen was afforded time and space on the edge of the Swansea box and the 26-year-old let fly with his left foot. Peter Thompson pulled one back for Bill Shankly's men just after the hour, and the home side laid siege on the Swansea goal.
