'American Idol' Contestant Awkwardly Brings Up Taylor Swift to Katy Perry

Katy Perry says she 'loves' Taylor Swift 'as a songwriter' – but is she just throwing more shade?

Effie Passero sings

American Idol 2018 heads back to Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, and NY tonight on ABC as the three judges continue their search for the next victor of American Idol armed with their stack of Golden Tickets.

Then she forcibly kissed a teenage male contestant when he didn't want Perry to be his first kiss.

When the aspiring singer added that he loves Swift, Perry quipped: "I love her, as a songwriter as well".

Since the popular singing competition premiered last week, judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan met a good number of singer hopefuls who brought their original works into the audition hoping to score that coveted golden ticket to Hollywood. To which Perry said, "I love her, as a songwriter, as well". The clip cuts to the contestant cracking a big smile, then back to Perry, looking down, tilting her head to the side, and making a face that suggests that there's more meaning to what she said than what's on the surface.

As a response, Perry, on her new album, has a song called "Swish, Swish", which many of her fans sees is a diss track about the 28-year-old pop star.

At that point, Swift began to project her image as being above the fray. "Oh, you don't have to be sorry at all", she told the contestant.

Wearing Daisy Duke cut-offs and holding a Starbucks drink, she sings a medley of Mariah Carey's "Emotions" (yes, she hits the high notes ) and Demo Lovato's "Stone Cold". She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. "I think pushing Marcus to be social, has actually encouraged me to actually go out and be okay with who I am". Karma. There's the law of cause and effect: you do something, there's going to be a reaction. "We've had our differences but I just continue to say, 'God bless her on her journey".

Maybe there is no bad blood after all.
