How safe is the Airbus A320 Neo? The issues were rectified and the aircraft are back in operation. That was because PW1100 engines bearing serial number 450 and above have been the centre of attention in the past month.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court directed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to file an affidavit as required under the Aircraft Rules on the safety and airworthiness of the A320 Neo planes flying in India. A total of 11 planes were banned - of which eight belonged to Indigo and three to GoAir. The spokesperson did not comment on the other two incidents.

As per reports, the aircraft that operated on the Bangalore-Delhi route was grounded for maintenance check at Delhi airport as the pilot reported about the malfunctioning engine. This aircraft was grounded.

Indigo A320Neo engines fiasco: The problem of A320Neo engines does not seem to end for Interglobe Aviation (Indigo), as the airline announced back-to-back three grounding of flights in just 24 hours. "But our investigation team is scanning every case and we are in touch with airline and engine manufacturer", said a DGCA official on the condition of anonymity.


IndiGo, a low-priced carrier and India's largest airline by market share, canceled hundreds of flights after the government directive. Each Airbus A320 Neo carries around 180 passengers. "This is not related to the P&W engine concerns". "Due to aircraft reduction, across the entire spectrum there has been a 20-25% fare hike with exceptions".

IndiGo had said in a statement, "An A320 Neo aircraft that operated Delhi-Srinagar was cleared after maintenance checks upon arrival at Srinagar airport", reported in Zee News.

United Technologies and its Dow Jones industrial average peer General Electric have both been dogged by issues with their next-generation jet engines.

In what was the third incident with its Airbus A320neo aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney's PW1100G engines in two days, IndiGo reported a fuel leak on one of the power plants of a plane. On Friday, the Delhi High Court had dismissed a petition seeking grounding of the entire IndiGo and Go Air fleets due to their faulty engines. The aircraft reportedly experienced high vibration in one of its engines.
