Rain doesn't dampen Darnold's standing at USC Pro Day

2018 NFL Draft: Jets head honchos attend Sam Darnold's pro day
Other mock drafts have had Darnold also going No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns. Apparently, doing so at USC quarterback Sam Darnold'spro day was the priority for the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday. Weather conditions didn't affect Darnold, who cut the ball through the driving rain and set up ideal passes to his receivers. The quarterback told ESPN that he's already met with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants. Darnold is thought to be the QB jewel of the draft and had not thrown at the Combine, choosing instead to unleash his arm in the comforts of his home. Teams, including the Jets, will get to see the quarterback air it out on Wednesday. It was a rare rainy day in Southern California, which probably was a good thing for Darnold. And all accounts from reporters on site indicated Darnold threw it well despite the rain. "Being aware of all those (technical skills), coming out and ripping it".
Ball security has been a nagging concern after Darnold lost nine fumbles last season as a redshirt sophomore.
After the Jets moved up to No. 3, with the clear intent of taking a quarterback, it seemed to clarify what will happen at the top of the draft. "Just based on that, yeah, a part of me really wants to go No. 1". The Browns will do their due diligence on all the quarterbacks at the top of the draft.
Darnold is far from a flawless prospect, but he has a live arm, the kind of poise and leadership teams covet in the National Football League, and has a knack for coming up big in moments when his team needs him the most.
