Adea Shabani, the missing actress who vanished from her Hollywood home last month, may be the body discovered in a shallow grave in a rural Nevada wildlife area, police believe.

Officials used Shabani's tattoos to positively identify her.

"The condition of that body was... it wasn't in pristine condition", said Sheriff's Lt. Rob Bringolf.

Shabani, an acting student who moved to L.A. from Macedonia, was last seen near her Hollywood apartment on February 23, according to police. "We want to make sure we don't miss any critical evidence".

Police were also unable to determine a cause of death on the remains. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

A auto chase ensued, and Spotz eventually used a handgun to shoot himself in the head.

He added that they believed Shabani's boyfriend Christopher Spotz was "somehow involved in her death".

"We are devastated", said John Jack Rodgers, the Academy's executive director, recalling that she was "growing immensely" in her craft.

PEOPLE confirms that investigators have impounded the Tacoma and a crime scene unit has been combing it for forensic evidence related to the Shabani case. Billy Hayes says detectives believe 25-year-old Adea Shabani is dead and are investigating the case as a homicide. "We can not say that conclusively at this point in time because the conditions of the remains prohibited positive identification", Hayes said at a news conference Tuesday at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) headquarters.

Adea Shabani went missing in February.

Shabani moved from Macedonia and had been in Los Angeles less than two years, according to her friends.

California Highway Patrol officers chased Spotz into Riverside County, where he exited the freeway and killed himself with a gun he had, authorities said.

When detectives tried to track him down there, Spotz was gone and issued a warrant for his truck. At some point, information led authorities to the lake at the Woods Wildlife Area in Nicholas, California, but were not successful in finding anything. On March 22, San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies found Spotz in his vehicle in the area of the 10 and 15 Freeways.

Last Thursday night, a North Hollywood man authorities suspect was involved in Shabani's disappearance fatally shot himself during a law enforcement chase from Hesperia to the Corona area.

On Monday, police combing the banks of a creek found the shallow grave.
