The prisoner hopped into a taxi after fleeing ICE agents at Kennedy Airport

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainee with a prior arrest on weapons-related offenses escaped custody late Tuesday at John F. Kennedy International Airport, leaped into a yellow taxi cab and darted off, officials and law enforcement sources say.

According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, 31-year-old Mohamadou Lamine Mbacke from Senegal.

The agents had taken off his handcuffs when he was brought through screening, and he was about to be then escorted onto a plane when he ran away.

An agency police spokesman said the escape was reported to Port Authority police officers at about 9:15 p.m. "He was not taken into custody in the airport by the Port Authority Police Department". He was last seen wearing a black or purple shirt, jeans and sneakers.

"Mbacke is described as being 6'3" tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds.

He eluded authorities at Gate B23 in Terminal 4 at around 8:30 p.m. local time.

The report said that these deportations have not been getting much attention because Trump's immigration focus has been on building a wall with Mexico and deporting Latin American immigrants. Surveillance footage from the airport showed the man leaving the facility in a taxi.
