Migrant caravan, down by half, soldiers on through Mexico

Trump sends troops to the border of Mexico while the wall is being built

Gone in 60 seconds: Immigrants taunt Trump by climbing wall into the US despite his promises of National Guard presence and tighter security

He said then: "When Mexico sends its people they're not sending their best".

Even coordinators of the caravan seemed to misunderstand the debate in the us when Trump's endorsed a "nuclear option" for pushing funding for his border wall through Congress.

This year's caravan had about 1,500 migrants at its peak, but people began to leave the group after immigration authorities stalled it in the southern town of Matias Romero and screened men, women, and children following pressure from Trump.

"The attitude of militarization seems to us like just one more insult that we Mexicans don't deserve", said Ramon Galindo, the state government representative in Ciudad Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas.

The midterm elections have been a priority this year in the USA, but the country also has a stake in the presidential election in Mexico.

NBC News put a different spin on the demise of the planned border invasion.

Trump has made the migrant caravan a central theme in tweets.

According to the Associated Press, the Mexican government announced that 465 illegal aliens had officially applied for transit visas.

He was referencing a group of largely central Americans making their way across Mexico, some with the intent of seeking asylum in the United States.

However, female migrants argue with Trump's claims saying they chose to travel with the caravan for protection.

On Wednesday, despite confirmation by Mexican officials that they would break up "the caravan" PSF activist Alex Mensing defiantly tweeted "the caravan isn't over".

When they get to the United States, they hope American authorities will grant them asylum or, for some, be absent when they attempt to cross the border illegally.

Trump touched on outrage his previous comments on Mexicans caused before saying that women face a higher risk of rape while trying to cross the US border illegally.

"I see it as something really sad, because I don't understand how a child this age can make things hard for him", said Hernandez, a 27-year-old who is two months pregnant.

Trump has stepped up his anti-immigration rhetoric recently.

"When do we beat Mexico at the border?"

However, regardless of the haze of uncertainty surrounding certain conflicting claims, one thing that everyone does appear to agree on is that the caravan is not really being disbanded.

Also Friday, " Mexico's secretary of the inner said he'd called in U.S. Ambassador Roberta Jacobsen for consultations pertaining to Trump's announcement Thursday about migrant girls being banged on the travel to the U.S. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

"You take the risk of staying in your own country, where they are going to kill you, or you take the risk of taking this path, which is unsafe", Bonilla said.
