The US, UK and France continue to make preparations for military action meant to punish the regime of Bashar al-Assad, which they say is responsible for the latest chemical weapons attack, on the Damascus suburb of Douma on 7 April, which killed more than 45 people.

It is not the first time Mr. Trump has warned Russian Federation or its president, Vladimir V. Putin, for supporting the Syrian regime, led by Bashar al-Assad, believed to be behind the suspected chemical weapons attack on April 7 that has left dozens dead.

Despite the lack of credible evidence on the issue and denial by the Syrian authorities, Trump tweeted a harsh remark on Wednesday, calling for Russian Federation to "get ready" for "nice and new and smart" American missiles in Syria. "Get ready Russian Federation, because they will be coming, nice and new and 'smart!'", Trump said in a tweet. But he has threatened military action in response to Syria's suspected chemical attack, which activists and rescuers say killed at least 40 people.

Trump also blamed the deteriorating U.S. -Russia relationship on the "Fake & Corrupt Russia Investigation, headed up by the all Democrat loyalists". There is no reason for this. Stop the arms race?'

Trump and Western allies are considering military action to punish al-Assad for the reported poison gas attack - Damascus said reports of a gas attack are false.

With a mix of fear and defiance, Syrians braced on Wednesday for a possible US attack in retaliation to an alleged chemical assault that killed dozens over the weekend.

"We're still assessing the intelligence, ourselves and our allies", Mattis said.

"As the President noted on April 8, the chemical weapons attack by the Syrian regime against innocent civilians in Douma, Syria on April 7 was horrifying, and demands an immediate response from the worldwide community".

"Instead of talking about the coalition's readiness to fire missiles at Syria, the United States would do better to rebuild the destroyed city (of Raqqa) and provide wide-ranging help to its suffering population", the ministry said in a statement. Qatar hosts the United States' main air operations center for the Middle East, which would coordinate any American air attack in Syria.

"They agreed they would continue working closely together and with global partners to ensure that those responsible were held to account", the office said.

The air traffic control agency Eurocontrol has also released an alert from the European Aviation Safety Agency to flight operators in nearby airspace of "the possible launch of air strikes into Syria with air-to-ground and/or cruise missiles within the next 72 hours".

"This one's got to be a very serious, a very regime-threatening attack", the South Dakota Republican said on the Hugh Hewitt radio show.

Russian Federation and Iran are providing the Assad government with military support in Syria's seven-year-old civil war.

May has not confirmed whether Britain will participate directly, but moved closer to it Wednesday, saying "the continued use of chemical weapons can not go unchallenged".
