Authorities say Ferrell seen talking on his phone while being loaded onto an ambulance suffered minor injuries
Actor Will Ferrell was among four people injured in a rollover vehicle crash that temporarily stopped traffic on the northbound 5 Freeway in Mission Viejo Thursday night. No one in Ferrell's vehicle appears to have suffered life-threatening injuries, and Ferrell himself has already been released from the hospital, his rep tells TMZ.
Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority wouldn't reveal the names of the passengers in the SUV, but he confirmed to HuffPost that the vehicle carried three men in their 40s to 50s and one woman in her 20s.
Earlier in the evening, Ferrell had participated in a amusing or Die comedy event in San Diego, where he had appeared as his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy.
Video from the scene recorded by LA-OC.tv showed a black SUV with its windows shattered and Ferrell conscious and talking on a phone as paramedics wheeled him into an ambulance on a stretcher. California Highway Patrol spokesman, Rafael Reynoso, told The Hollywood Reporter, there is no evidence of alcohol or drugs in the crash. The SUV was traveling in the HOV lane when it was sideswiped by a 2007 Toyota traveling the lane to the right of it, causing it to strike the center median and flip.
Comedian Billy Eichner, who also appeared at the event, tweeted about the crash on Friday. A 27-year-old woman in Will's auto was not wearing a seatbelt and was seriously injured, according to the Orange County Register, via Variety.
Ferrell's supervisor has not returned a request for comment.
