Penguins vs. Flyers: Game 6 Prediction, NHL Playoffs

Penguins and Flyers Square Off Sunday in Game Six

A little more than midway through the second period, the Flyers took a 4-2 lead and the Philly faithful was really into it, thinking there could be a Game 7 on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. Sean Couturier was the Flyers best player as he had a hat trick and two assists in their game six loss and also had the game-winning goal in game five just to get it to game six.

Philadelphia has been written off a number of times, which isn't a surprise considering they were outscored a combined 17-1 in their three losses in this series. They still trail 3-2 heading into Game 6 on Sunday but counterpunched effectively against the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions.

The Flyers scored a shorthanded goal and held the Pens' high-powered power play scoreless in the past two games. However, they have now won 11 straight games after losing their previous contest by two or more. Off a face-off, Kris Letang fired a shot that Michal Neuvirth stopped with the pad, but the rebound went right to Sidney Crosby, and he didn't miss, tying the game with his sixth goal of the series at 6:30. But, as it turns out, Couturier's injury wasn't just another bruise, it was actually a torn MCL.

Guentzel, 23, tied the game at 4-4 with 54 seconds left in the second period off a Flyers turnover. "No people believed in us that we would be here and [would] be able to play good hockey against Pittsburgh, so [I'm] just very proud of this team". "I've never seen anything like it, to be honest", Penguins goalie Matt Murray said.

But it's fair to question the contributions of top forwards Claude Giroux (one goal, two assists), Jake Voracek (no goals, three assists) and Simmonds (no goals, two assists). Matt Murray made 21 saves but had no chance on Couturier's victor as the puck found its way through a sea of players and into the net.

"We come home and we had a few guys that instead of going out and being confident, just going out and playing, we had our own shackles on in Games 3 and 4 here", coach Dave Hakstol said. "We've got to keep battling next game and play the same type of game".

The Flyers opened up a 7-1 lead in shots, but the Penguins stormed back. The Penguins came in 8-5 in potential close-out games since Sullivan took over in December 2015, including a 5-2 mark at home. "There are a lot of real positives that we're going to be able to go back and evaluate".
