Kim Jong-un 'agrees to meet' US President Donald Trump at DMZ border separating the two Koreas

North Korea propaganda SILENCED as Kim Jong-un vows to get rid of nukes

The Trump-Kim meeting could be another step forward for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula following a summit on Friday between Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

Moon said on April 19 during a meeting with local media executives that if Kim had made such unacceptable demands, it would have been impossible to agree on holding a summit meeting between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Moon, as well as a number of Republican lawmakers back in the USA, have given Trump a great deal of credit for these developments and have suggested the president should win the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in pressuring North Korea.

"Max Thunder is a regular exercise that has been on the docket long before a planned US-North Korea summit", the defence ministry said in a statement.

"If we maintain frequent meetings and build trust with the United States and receive promises for an end to the war and a non-aggression treaty, then why would be need to live in difficulty by keeping our nuclear weapons?".

"There is a difference with the past regarding the leadership circle of the inter-Korean summit and the upcoming US-North Korea summit", Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon told reporters on Wednesday.

The apparent move comes after South Korea said a day earlier it would do the same, starting on Tuesday. Regime survival depends upon national strength, and neither isolation nor the goodwill of China and Russian Federation are sufficient for North Korea's freedom of maneuver.

North Korea customarily reacts with anger to the deployment of USA stealth fighters, which it fears could be used for surgical strikes against its leadership and strategic facilities.

Pompeo said the Trump administration will not repeat the mistakes of the past, adding, "Our eyes are wide open". Kim also appeared to be discussing his hopes for a fruitful meeting with President Donald Trump, due to take place in early June.

While Trump seemingly dismissed more neutral locations like Singapore, Switzerland, or Mongolia, to meet with Kim, his nod to the DMZ on Monday seemed to indicate his preference for the spot based on its history. Moon also asked the U.N.to formally declare its support for his summit declaration with Kim.

China is the North's only major economic partner, but trade has declined by about 90 per cent following Beijing's implementation of economic sanctions imposed over the North's nuclear bomb and ballistic missile tests. "I think there's a good chance of doing it".

North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un (R) talks with South Korea's President Moon Jae-in (L) at a bench on a bridge next to the military demarcation line at the truce village of Panmunjom on April 27, 2018.
