They will begin welcoming girls into Cub Scouts this year, followed by allowing girls ages 11 to 17 into the Scouts BSA in 2019.

More than 3,000 girls have enrolled in the Boy Scouts of America's Early Adopter Program and are taking part in Cub Scouts ahead of the full integration of girls later this year.

"Cub Scouts is a lot of fun, and now it's available to all kids", Stephen Medlicott, National Marketing Group Director of Boy Scouts of America, said in a statement.

"The Boy Scouts of America is not changing it's corporate name, we are still the boy scouts, we are still the same iconic logo and brand", Page said. The organization's name will remain the same; only the program for older youth will change its name.

"The name is part of a rebranding effort to reflect the group's historic decision a year ago to accept girls".

After existing quite nicely for more than 100 years, political correctness has driven a stake right through the heart of the Boy Scouts.

The Girl Scouts say they have about 1.76 million girls and more than 780,000 adult members, down from just over 2 million youth members and about 800,000 adult members in 2014.

The Boy Scouts of America on Wednesday also unveiled its "Scout Me In" programme that features girls along with boys and starts this summer.

Written by Eric Levenson and Amanda Watts for CNN. "In its peak years, BSA had more than 4 million participants", reports John Bacon for USA Today. Instead of simply showing Scouts participating in activities, the campaign brings the young viewer into the middle of the action - from fishing, biking and canoeing to launching rockets and making slime - where they get even closer to the experiences that Scouting brings to life. The organization is expanding corporate partnerships in both those areas, and developing a Girl Scout Network Page on LinkedIn to support career advancement for former Girl Scouts. "'We see boys and girls as equal but not the same, ' Maryann Barry said". The Girl Scouts still feels as if it offers girls the best opportunity. "Since our inception, Girl Scouts of the United States of America have been about putting girls front and center, ensuring that everything we do is not only with their best interests in mind but equips them to be the fearless leaders and change makers who our 50 million alumnae prove to be".

The Girl Scouts list a series of efforts created to "stay ahead of the pack of youth organizations".
