Chris Paul Out Game 6 With Right Hamstring Strain

Rockets take Game 5, inch closer to dethroning Warriors

Rockets push defending champ Warriors to the brink

Despite his worries about the injury in the midst of the most important playoff series of his career, Paul still seems confident he will take the floor Saturday night to help the Rockets take down the loaded Warriors squad.

Paul, a 13-year NBA veteran who has never played in the NBA Finals, reached for his hamstring after missing a shot in the final minute, limped after that and left the contest with 22.4 seconds remaining and the outcome still in doubt.

There was hope that some rest would allow Paul to recover in time for Game 6, which is set for 8 p.m. Saturday night, but word is already getting out that he won't make it.

UPDATED 5/25, 12:40 p.m. ET: The Houston Rockets have confirmed that Chris Paul is out for Game 6 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors with a right hamstring strain.

With the Rockets clinging to a two-point lead, Gordon sealed the victory at the foul line. Griffin played 14 minutes in Game 6 but the Paul-Griffin magic that propelled them to a franchise record 56-win regular season fizzled with Griffin's injury.

It was an upbeat, confident atmosphere inside the Warriors' locker room.

Paul finished with 20 points.

However, with Kevin Durant as a Warrior, this team hasn't gone through such a trial.

After combining for zero points on 0-of-4 shooting in the first quarter, Curry and Thompson started building momentum in the second and closed the half with 18 combined points. Golden State became reliant on the three-point shot and they stopped dropping.

"We know what we're capable of, we know that we can win two games", Green said.

Houston now holds a 3-2 series lead after winning 98-94 over the Warriors. "Obviously, a sense that you've been there before is always a good feeling".
