"But they are wary that Ronaldo's super-agent Jorge Mendes is hoping an auction kicks off for his biggest client and waiting to see if former club Manchester United or long-time admirers Paris Saint-Germain firm up their interest".

The soccer superstar might join Juventus from Real Madrid this summer in a transfer worth around €100 million (£88.3 million/$116.5 million), according to Spanish journalist Josep Pedrerol, who reported Tuesday on "Jugones" the blockbuster transfer rumor is nearly a done deal.

It's added that while Ronaldo's current release clause at the Santiago Bernabeu is €1 billion, the Italian champions believe they could secure the signing of the Portuguese forward for around €100 million (£88 million).

Ronaldo, who scored four goals at the 2018 FIFA World Cup as Portugal crashed out at the round of 16, hinted at leaving the La Liga club shortly after their historic third successive UEFA Champions League title win last season.

According to reports, Juventus have offered Ronaldo a huge £26m-a-year contract - the same as Real's final offer - for over four years, which meant he will be 37 by the time his contract expires.

For me they would be wrong to get Cristiano with a €30 million salary.

Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez, had stubbornly maintained that Ronaldo would only be allowed to leave if his release clause was met.

The reported club-record offer from Juventus is expected to make Ronaldo the highest-paid player in their history, despite Madrid willing to match whatever Juve pay in wages.
