'How Did He Get Elected?': Trump Blasts Sen. Jon Tester, Asks Voters to 'Right Their Wrong' in November

WATCH LIVE: Trump holds campaign rally in Montana

Jon Tester - whom the president's son, Donald Trump Jr., on Thursday afternoon called "Two-Faced Tester" before introducing his father to an exuberant crowd at the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls, Montana.

In the midterm elections this fall, Republican candidate Matt Rosendale hopes to unseat incumbent Democrat Sen. "Even so, Trump saying "we're the me too generation so we have to be very gentle" is so completely wrong and idiotic".

For her part, Elizabeth Warren responded with eternal class, reminding Donald Trump of the job he's supposed to be doing.

President Trump joked about the #MeToo movement Thursday, making light of the worldwide campaign against sexual assault during a wide-ranging speech in which he also took aim at a potential 2020 White House opponent, Sen. "She gets special treatment under the Justice Department".

He also mentioned he would be meeting with President Vladimir Putin soon and that getting along with China and Russian Federation is "a good thing".

"Tester said things about him that were disgusting and they weren't true", Trump said.

"Hey, @realDonaldTrump: While you obsess over my genes, your Admin is conducting DNA tests on little kids because you ripped them from their mamas & you are too incompetent to reunite them in time to meet a court order", Warren said.

His barbs against the media came on a day when newsrooms across the US held a moment of silence in remembrance of five Maryland newspaper staffers who were fatally shot last week by a man who authorities say held a grudge against the publication.

Rosendale, the state auditor, benefits from the president's personal disdain for Tester, who blocked his nominee for Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Ronny Jackson - who had served as the White House physician.

MTN News reporter Jill Valley got a rare view of President Trump's visit to Great Falls on Thursday and learned how covering the President works when you're in the press pool.

Another test will be whether Trump's omnipresent national profile can squelch Democratic senators with strong local appeal and independent profiles like Tester, a farmer from the tiny north country township of Big Sandy who has his own populist brand, and West Virginia's Manchin, who has long surfed political waves that have swept his state to the right.

"Jon Tester showed his true colors with his shameful, dishonest attacks on a great man", Trump told the crowd. He called out Tester for his abysmal voting record, ticking off several issues on which Tester voted against the president's agenda.

In a freewheeling speech in Montana, Trump cycled through many of his favourite themes but repeatedly returned to vigorous campaign-year attacks on Democrats. "I'll see what Trump has to say and how he delivers his magic words".

Tester tried to counter that narrative before Trump got to the state by taking out a full-page ad in more than a dozen newspapers across the state thanking him for signing 16 bills the Democrat sponsored or co-sponsored.

"Jon Tester voted no on legislation to stop late-term abortions", Trump said to loud booing. "Totally prepared. I've been preparing for this stuff my whole life".

Still, while Democrats believe they have an opening, Trump is betting on his method. He has also dismissed the special counsel's investigation into potential Russian collusion with Trump's campaign as a "witch hunt" meant to delegitimize his presidency.

Trump used the fact that some were questioning his preparedness to also attack the media. Trump's message will influence his decision, he said.
