Brook Sweeney lives across the street from where the crash took place and told the Daily-Pilot the impact sounded like a auto crash.

Virginia State Police said a 911 call came in Sunday before 5 p.m. about an aircraft crashing into a residential structure in Williamsburg near Settlement Drive.

The FAA later tweeted that only the pilot was onboard the chopper, which was identified as an R44.

- Officials have identified the person killed when a helicopter crashed into a Virginia condominium as 91-year-old Jean Lonchak Danylko.

"I was upstairs when I heard what sounded like a helicopter flying really low overhead".

Neighbors told local news outlets they saw a small, rickety helicopter crash and heard or felt the impact.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) were investigating the cause of the crash and working to confirm the identity of the pilot, who was the only person in the helicopter when it crashed.

Another resident, Brook Sweeney, who has lived in the complex since October, said he was watching TV when he heard a noise that he at first thought was a vehicle accident.

Williamsburg Police, William & Mary Police, James City County Police, Virginia State Police and the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office also responded to the crash.

She lived in one of the units beneath the crash.
